Here at the Rifugio, we firmly believe that education is the best method of fighting the mistreatment and abandonment of animals.

Following this philosophy, our work focuses on teaching people to respect animals and nature in general. We encourage children to learn about the environment from a young age.

Are you a teacher? Are you looking for a special school trip?

Fondazione “Il Rifugio degli Asinelli ONLUS” organizes guided tours: for 1 hour, staff illustrates donkeys’ stories, ethology and anatomy and satisfies all the curiosities about these wonderful animals. Classes can have a close meeting with donkeys homed at Il Rifugio and test by themselves grooming and daily care of donkeys.
Guided tours are free of charge and open to all schools. They are patterned after children’s age.
If you wish, your class can support our activities adopting a donkey or with a donation – carrots and apples are welcome as well!
