Update on donkey milk farm in Montebaducco
We are sure many of you remember our campaign about the poor conditions of 700 donkeys living in a milk farm in Montebaducco. Our online petition was a great success and we asked the owners to improve welfare conditions of their animals.
Last week our General Manager Barbara Massa, our vet and his assistant went back to the milk farm to check the overall conditions of donkeys and to meet the owners.
Besides farm owners, the director of local ASL, Dr Micagni, was there too: he made all the paper works concerning donkeys available and he assured that farm is well cared for by vets and owners.
We noticed that conditions of barns and buildings have been improved; the same for donkeys' hooves. 2 members of their staff agreed to attend IRDA course for farriers in June: it seems a good signal and the opportunity for a further improvement of donkeys’ conditions.
We are satisfied for this last meeting: owners looked more careful and helpful than before towards donkeys' care and welfare issues. Dr Micagni ensured us that he will keep in mind our proposals and he’s available to cooperate with us in future.
It's clear our work is not finished and we will keep on watching regarding the health and welfare of donkeys involved in milk industry.
