Lunghezza seizure: 60 equines desperately need our help
Pubblicato il 20 February 2018.Our Country Manager Barbara Massa and Welfare Advisor Fabrizio are currently in Lunghezza, near Rome, to help about 60 donkeys, mules, horses and ponies:
they have been seized by authorities last week as they were living in desperate conditions, neglected and forced to drink from extremely polluted river Aniene, the only source of water at their disposal.
Together with other charities Progetto Islander and Legambiente, Il Rifugio degli Asinelli will deal with rescues, first aid, food, water, vet cares, transports to a safe place; we will also look for foster homes for the seized animals.
Please take a look at these photos just shared by Barbara:
Next steps
- We are arranging the delivery of food and water.
- Blood tests and vet checks are fundamental to assess the health state of each animal and to start proper therapies when needed.
- Seized animals will be soon moved to a proper land where they are going to live until fostering: today's site inspection by our team is meant also to evaluate most urgent works needed to make this temporary place suitable (e.g. fences, etc)
- We will hire proper means of transport and will work together with experts, also from The Donkey Sanctuary, in order to gain and move such a huge number of wild animals, living in a large area of 30 acres.
