Viola: her future is in your hands
Posted on 15 December 2016.Dear friends, we are sure that you remember little Viola: the lovely, tiny filly rejected by her mother at birth and that we rescued last September.
If you got our last newsletter, you already know that former owner, who at first agreed to cover half of the recovery expenses and to bring back mother and baby once Viola was out of danger, released them to our Rifugio, which is in charge of all the costs - a very high amount.
But there is more: the difficulties that Viola had to face from the very first times have left serious consequences. Finally she's able to gain weight (for the first month she wasn't, despite all our efforts), but her front legs are too weak to support her body. Our vet, doctor Luca, is assessing the situation to find out the best solution, but it isn't a piece of cake.
Meanwhile, last week we moved Viola and Ginger in the elderly donkeys' area: a wonderful, well balanced group who warmly welcomed the last arrivals from the very first time.
The new stable is located near a little wood, so we also hope that Viola's muscles will strengthen while walking up and down the hills.
We know that Viola conquered your hearts, as you affection shows: but now we ask you to take action.
Every day, we spend 40€ to feed Viola (2.5 litres of donkey milk): this means 1,200€/month. A huge amount, which adds to ordinary and extraordinary costs for the other 145 donkeys and mules homed at our shelter.
We desperately need you: if you are in love with Viola, just as we are, please make a donation. Please help us to give her the gift of a bright future.
