Shorty... ears for a longer life
Posted on 9 January 2019.Do you remember Obama, the earless donkey? Both his ears were amputated by our vet as an extreme measure against sarcoids, aggressive skin tumors. For some weeks now, there's another donkey with "half ears": it's Shorty, a sweet donkey rescued in Romania, once part of the donkey therapists.
As for Obama, also for Shorty this surgery was necessary to stop the growth and spread of cancer and was made by our vet, doctor Merlone. As a special "supervisor", there was Shorty's best friend, Chocolate, who stood by her side during the surgery and her convalescence (just like Ombra did with Marisa). So, if you come to pay a visit to the donkeys and meet a friendly one with very short ears, followed by another chocolate-coloured, you cannot get wrong: it's them!
Fighting the sarcoids
Sarcoids are a real plague for donkeys: being ready to recognize them and treating them in the best way can make a huge difference between life and death. If you want, you can help us to grant the best treatment to our patients with a donation of any amount: just write "Sarcoids" in the object. Thank you so much for your help!
