Adoption update
Posted on 25 October 2019.One of the moments of greatest contact between those who work at the Refuge and donkeys is during grooming, which is where many anecdotes about the Magnificent Eight come from. This is what Magda tells us, directly from the farm! You can adopt these donkeys (and the mule Marco) no matter how far away you live.
Agostino
There are donkeys who do not like to get on the scales for routine weighing, and then there’s Agostino! When he sees us tinkering with the scales, he arrives immediately and waits to go up (always first). Agostino is healthy, of linear weight, and always looking for new stimuli, like the balance! He is the first to get on the scales, but he is always the last to leave the barn in the morning!
Alin
Taking long, scenic walks outside the Refuge makes Alin very happy. He is well respected inside the stable with his companions, often being a bit of a bully, but when he comes out he can't do anything without his great friends Amilcare and Bandit.
Clementina
This soft-hearted donkey is always looking to make connections with other donkeys. Her best friends (just to name a few) are Gioconda, Shorty, Chocolate, Parbat, Silvana and the great heartthrob Filippo. In every moment of her day she loves to take her friends with her. For example, the last time Magda groomed Magilla, Clementina came with us and followed every step very carefully.
Filippo
Filippo is a notorious heartbreaker, but remains loyal to Amy for now. It’s very cunning of him to take off his green collar – he has now become very adept at removing it, even from his companions!
Marco
He is always the first to leave the stable, and you can set your watch by him. If, for some reason, the opening of the paddock to the mules does not take place at the scheduled time, he starts to quiver a second after the time comes and keeps the group updated on developments.
Shadow
Shadow is always very protective of Marisa, the last demonstration of which took place only a few days ago. While Magda was brushing her friend, Shadow expressed her jealousy by removing the elastic band from my hair.
Galileo
Since Snowball and Tigro are no longer in the opposite stable, Galileo has been able to breathe a sigh of relief. That beautiful little donkey he saw every day was such a temptation. Galileo is the only donkey of the Refuge who has not been castrated due to a deformity at birth. Now he can enjoy time relaxing with his friends.
Ardito
One of our grooms likes to call him 'patatone' as a sign of affection, others call him ‘the good giant'. Whatever you call him, Ardito is a really adorable and calm donkey. If you ever sit at the table near the paddock where he usually walks, you will certainly have noticed his great curiosity and desire for contact!
