Zara: life starts from a blue collar
Posted on 1 March 2019.A collar is not just a collar. The one that Zara is wearing now is blue, the color that identifies the donkeys chosen for the yearly sponsorship, and it is a powerful symbol: that of a life that begins to shine after dark, an abandoned donkey who is now chosen and loved.
Zara was one of the 48 donkeys involved in the Alessandria seizure and she and her foal Moro were in poor conditions.
She is a delicate. shy donkey, always close to Moro: her sweetness never stopped shining bright, and maybe it was a signal for Rita.
Our supporter for a long time, Rita had contacted us to sponsor of a donkey from the difficult past a few days before our involvement in the seizure. The fact that there was also a female, among the five donkeys brought to our Sanctuary, and that the recovery had happened right in Rita's hometown, have united her and Zara from the first moment.
"Zara is a name of Jewish origin with a beautiful and well-wishing meaning: 'Source of light'" she told us. And, now, that name used by groom to call her with affection while they go on with care and that differentiates her, making her unique and precious, it seems even more appropriate; the wish for a bright future for all the saved donkeys.
