When you decided to support our Rifugio adopting a donkey, you made a truly special gesture.

A gesture that contributes daily to the care and protection of all over 100 resident animals, through a symbolic aid of 24.00 euros per year, which has always remained unchanged since our adoption program started in 2008.

However, the growing increase in the costs of all raw materials including hay and straw, as well as for medicines and specialist care have forced us to review the annual contribution for the first time in sixteen years which, from 1 March, will be 36,00 euros.

Becoming foster owners of a couple of donkeys is truly a unique, exciting and rewarding experience. In fact, it will allow you to take care daily of wonderful and lovely animals as donkeys are, creating a deep special bond. Alberto and Francesca have been patient for a long time to live this adventure, becoming the enthusiastic foster owners of Ciarli, Rolinda and Battistina, three brothers who found a new home and a lot of love.

Our next 2022 openings to the public will be on May, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29, from 10.00 until 05.30 P.M. Entrance is free though limited and it will be necessary to book by sending an email providing us with name, surname, phone number and number of people involved. We will then confirm the booking, provided that the maximum number hasn’t been reached yet.

We have opened a new position as a groom to work among our wonderful donkeys. Applications must be sent through the specific application form no later than Thursday 07 April. For internal reasons, applications received through other channels cannot be considered.

The pandemic situation certainly brought many differences in the life of each of us and not even our Rifugio has been excluded.Over the past two years we have consistently given priority to the wellbeing of our donkeys, mules and hinnies, while protecting our staff at the best we could do, so that they could take care of our long-eared guests on a daily basis. We weren't able to have the opening frames for visitors we ideally wished, but the internal reorganization due to the pandemic meant that all our energies were dedicated primarily to our donkeys.
